The International Monetary Fund (IMF) announced on Wednesday that Macedonia has requested a loan of 480 million euros for a period of two years to support its economy.
IMF Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn stated that he will shortly request the institution’s executive board to approve the request. The Macedonian government emphasizes that it will use the funds to improve the state of public finances and for capital investments. It expects the economy to grow at a rate of two percent this year, which should increase to 3.5 percent next year. (H)
