At the Municipal Court in Koprivnica, the trial of former Podravka executives Zdravko Šestak, Darko Marinac, and Darko Šketa continues. They are accused of inciting abuse of position and authority and negligent business operations due to a loan of five million kuna that Podravka paid to the Koprivnica footwear company Sloga.
Šestak and Marinac are charged with failing to act with the care of a good businessman during the agreement and approval of the loan to another company in May and June 2007 in Koprivnica, with Šestak as a member of the Management Board of Podravka and Marinac as the President of the Management Board of Podravka, and that they, disregarding the property interests of Podravka, approved the payment of five million kuna to another company in the name of the loan, thereby causing damage to Podravka. Šestak and Šketa are charged with having, in early April 2009 in Koprivnica, Šketa as the President of the Management Board of the company “Sloga” d.d. (a footwear factory now in bankruptcy), and Šestak as the President of Podravka’s Management Board and a member of the Supervisory Board of “Sloga”, knowing that “Sloga” was on the verge of bankruptcy and that any encumbrance of property would reduce the possibility of satisfying its creditors, with the aim of subsequently securing the repayment of the loan of five million kuna, concluded an agreement to secure a monetary claim by establishing a lien on the properties of “Sloga”. This diminished the value of the bankruptcy estate. (www.hrt.hr)
