The largest European car manufacturer, Volkswagen, announced that it will hire around 50,000 workers worldwide by 2015, including up to six thousand in Germany alone.
"Currently, we have about 400,000 workers širom svijeta. With a growth trend in many markets, we could reach a number of 450,000 employees. Additionally, in the next five years, we need to replace 60,000 workers," said Volkswagen’s HR director Horst Neuman to the German daily Handelsblatt. According to him, Volkswagen will create five to šixty thousand jobs in Germany by 2015 and will rely less on temporary workers. Volkswagen is in negotiations with the IG Metall union, which plans to demand a wage increase. The German car manufacturer is now trying to meet renewed demand worldwide, especially in China.
