The website WikiLeaks, which has been publishing secret correspondence of American diplomacy since Sunday, became available on a server in Switzerland on Saturday after a brief interruption, announced the Swiss Pirate Party, which advocates for complete freedom of information circulation on the internet.
After the American internet provider EveryDNS.net shut down the site wikileaks.org on Friday, the platform for publishing confidential documents found refuge in Switzerland on the address wikileaks.ch. The owner of the domain wikileaks.ch is the Swiss Pirate Party, which claims to advocate for the legalization of file sharing on the internet and for the protection of internet users’ privacy. The Pirate Party, founded in 2009 modeled after the Swedish Pirate Party, published a list on its website with the names of 21 websites where WikiLeaks files can be uploaded. A large number of these sites are in Europe, such as wikileaks.nl, wikileaks.de, and wikileaks.fi. WikiLeaks began using EveryDNS and servers in Europe after Amazon.com terminated its cooperation on Thursday.
