Corruption is capillary spread throughout the entire political and economic system. Therefore, changing officials and legislation is not enough – a reform of the system and a change in consciousness are needed.
Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor has stopped making statements about zero tolerance for corruption. Only mysterious announcements of a supposed government reconstruction remain, actually the dismissal of ministers. From these announcements of the supposed government reconstruction, it is often unclear how much is about political settling of scores using corruption allegations, and how much is about actual suppression of corruption. All this has sparked media speculation about which ministers will have to resign from their positions in the government.
