The First Trilingual Dictionary of Banking and Finance in Croatia Presented

Planet Lingua, the VERN’ Polytechnic, and Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank d.d. today presented in the Zagreb Hypo Center a trilingual Croatian-English-German dictionary of banking and finance authored by Mate Karačić.

– This is the first and unique dictionary of its kind in Croatia, as well as in the region, and it serves as a foundation for everyday business communication with everyone active in the banking and financial sector. It is both a lexicon and an encyclopedia, and we have managed to translate many terms that have so far been used exclusively in their English form – said the author, who has over thirty years of experience in banking. The dictionary contains 65,000 entries and is structured from three dictionaries and an appendix. The fourth part consists of a lexicon and lists of antonyms, abbreviations, and professional English idioms of business jargon.
– At a time when our business contacts with abroad are increasingly intensifying, especially with the prospect of possible membership in the European Union, it is clear that the need for accurate and reliable communication with foreign partners is growing. This is where the true value of this book lies – concluded Uroš Dujšin, one of the reviewers of the book.  (Petra Dropulić)
