The average monthly net salary per employee in legal entities in Croatia paid for September this year amounted to 5,291 kuna, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics announced today.
Compared to the average net salary for August, which was 5,391 kuna, the average net salary for September was nominally lower by 1.9 percent and real lower by 2.1 percent. Year-on-year, compared to the salary for September last year, the net salary for this September was nominally higher by 1.1 percent and real lower by 0.3 percent. The average monthly net salary paid for the first nine months of this year was 5,303 kuna, which is nominally at the same level compared to the same period in 2009, but real lower by 0.8 percent. The special tax rate of 4 percent on net salaries above 6,000 kuna affected the decrease of the average net salary for September by 2 percent. The special tax had the least impact on salaries in administrative and auxiliary service activities, reducing them by 0.9 percent, and the most impact in financial activities and insurance activities, where it reduced average net salaries by 3 percent.
Among the sectors, the highest average net salary for September was paid in air transport, amounting to 9,571 kuna. This was followed by advertising and market research with 8,956 kuna, and management activities, consulting related to management with 8,120 kuna. The lowest salaries for September were paid in the clothing manufacturing sector, amounting to 2,784 kuna. In the leather and related products manufacturing sector, the average net salary for September was 2,891 kuna, and in services related to the management and maintenance of buildings, as well as landscaping and wood processing and wood products, excluding furniture, it amounted to 3,166 kuna. The average monthly gross salary per employee in legal entities in Croatia for September was 7,546 kuna, indicating a nominal decrease of 2.1 percent and a real decrease of 2.4 percent compared to August. Compared to September last year, the average gross salary for this September is nominally lower by 0.3 percent and real lower by 1.7 percent. For the period from January to September this year, the average monthly gross salary amounted to 7,645 kuna, which is nominally lower by 0.7 percent and real lower by 1.6 percent compared to the same period last year.
