Prosecutors from USKOK, unofficially reported by Večernji list, are considering the possibility of consolidating all investigations into the malpractices at HEP in which Ivan Mravak, the former CEO of the company, is suspected, into a single case.
This means that the indictment against Mravak would include the resale of electricity to Šibenik’s TLM and Mostar’s Aluminij, the awarding of contracts to the company Monting PIM, the arrangement of a bribe of 16 million kuna, the illegal approval of electricity discounts, and the financing of two companies from the Dioki group of Robert Ježić, as well as the fictitious employment of Rade Buljubašić, a HDZ returnee from Australia, at HEP. Although the former head of HEP is not the only primary suspect in one investigation, as the former Deputy Prime Minister Damir Polančec is mentioned as the mastermind behind the cheap resale of electricity, consolidating HEP’s cases would bring to the forefront the instigator under whose instructions this state-owned company operated during Mravak’s mandate. According to this logic, Ivo Sanader could easily end up being the primary accused in relation to HEP.
