HŽ Cargo will invest 81 million kuna in the Port Authority of Slavonski Brod, and the contract was signed on November 16 by the CEO of HŽ Cargo, Zlatko Rogožar, and the director of the Port Authority of Slavonski Brod, Marijan Jurić, the company announced today.
With this contract, the Port Authority of Slavonski Brod grants HŽ Cargo exclusive rights to use the space and the possibility to perform port operations and other economic activities related to the storage and transshipment of liquid cargo in the port area. Within five months of signing the contract, the documentation according to the plan and work program will be completed, and within a further eight months, construction of the buildings will commence. The plan includes the construction of a terminal for the reception, storage, and dispatch of petroleum products covering an area of 82,760 square meters with all necessary facilities, with the terminal’s storage capacity expected to be 60,000 cubic meters.
The terminal’s services will be used for the transportation and storage of petroleum products for the wider regional area, primarily utilizing rail transport, specifically tank cars. With the construction of the terminal and the existing tank car washing facility in Slavonski Brod, it is emphasized in the announcement that HŽ Cargo will provide added value to its service for freight transport operators on the X and V.c pan-European corridors. With this business move, HŽ Cargo is creating conditions for competitiveness in the market and predispositions for leadership not only in rail freight transport but also in the logistics sphere, while ensuring new jobs, employment in other activities, and the development of the entire area for the local community, the announcement concludes.
