The humanitarian action ‘Step into Life’ was initiated by the Rotary Club Kaptol Zagreb with the aim of providing scholarships to young people who, after reaching adulthood, leave homes for unaccompanied children and foster families, and wish to pursue higher education.
In Croatia, more than 200 children without adequate parental care from children’s homes and foster families graduate from high school each year, and a large number have the desire, but not the means, to study. So far, two generations of freshmen from homes and foster families have been successfully supported, and now help is needed to support the third generation. Many well-known names from Croatian sports, music, and culture have actively participated in supporting the action: Severina, Slaven Bilić, Ivano Balić, Toni Cetinski, Gordan Kožulj, Iva Šulentić, and Ištvan Varga. The finale of this year’s action is a concert by the world-renowned baritone Leo Nucci at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall on December 14, 2010, at 8 PM, with a live broadcast on HRT.
