Fertilizer Factory Worth 18 Million Euros Opened in Vukovar

The mineral fertilizer factory with a packaging facility at the entrance to the city of Vukovar, in which the Italian company “Adriatica Dunav” d.o.o. invested 18 million euros, was opened today by Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor.

In her speech at the opening ceremony of the factory, where finished raw materials will be delivered and mixed & packaged for export, Kosor invited potential investors to express interest, as she said, at least in one of the 30 large investment projects recently presented by the government."I want this investment to show that we in Croatia are indeed striving to create all the conditions for a good and positive atmosphere for those who want to invest, work, and build", Kosor stated, adding that the government is intensively working on creating better conditions for economic development. This, she assessed, will be one of the most important government tasks in 2011. She also thanked Italy for its support in Croatia’s accession to the European Union (EU).

Co-owner of the company "Adriatica Dunav" d.o.o. Masimo Fero emphasized that the Vukovar mineral fertilizer factory will produce about 250,000 tons of fertilizer per year intended for export to the markets of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Bulgaria, and Hungary. Currently, 50 people are employed, and it is planned to hire as many more, Fero said, adding that the annual turnover of the factory will be 60 million euros. The Italian ambassador in Zagreb, Alessandro Pignatti Morano di Custoza, stated that Italy strongly supports Croatia’s accession to the EU, and the participation of Italian capital in Croatia’s economic recovery is the best, as he assessed, concrete form of Italy’s assistance to Croatia on its European path. The ceremony was also attended by Minister of Economy Đuro Popijač, Minister of Agriculture Petar Čobanković, Vukovar-Srijem County Prefect Božo Galić, Vukovar Mayor Željko Sabo, and a large number of Vukovar entrepreneurs.
