The White House is using social media to gain insight into which jobs interest citizens and what concerns them most in their job search.
Starting from November 8, members of the job search site Monster.com, or its Facebook group, can pose questions to Obama’s administration regarding employment issues. The White House will respond to questions that receive enough comments and ‘likes’ in the form of videos that will be posted online. This is not the first time the White House has utilized social media, as it seeks to connect with its citizens to learn about their job interests and the challenges they face in their search. President Obama himself has previously answered citizens’ questions on the popular site YouTube, and recently, during a meeting with youth at the city hall, on Twitter, which was also covered by MTV, BET, and CMT. This initiative is interesting and certainly useful as individuals facing problems can directly seek assistance in finding jobs. (R. R.)
