New hotel in Terme Tuhelj worth 12 million euros

The new four-star hotel, construction of which will begin in early spring 2011 in Terme Tuhelj, means 130 new double rooms for Hrvatsko zagorje, but perhaps even more importantly, a modern conference center with a capacity of 450 people. The total investment value is as much as 12 million euros.

In addition to the new hotel, which is designed as three separate medium-sized facilities, there are plans to renovate part of the existing hotel and reception.

– With the construction of this conference center, we have the opportunity to be one of the important conference destinations. Furthermore, with this investment, Terme Tuhelj will complete its entire offer and become the first true wellness resort in Croatia – said the director of Terme Tuhelj, Ivana Kolar.

The new hotel, as well as the renovated parts of the existing facilities, will enable the categorization of the entire property to four stars, and the intention is to attract business and wellness guests with higher purchasing power. This significant tourist investment is a continuation of the investments made by the Slovenian company Terme Olimia, which took over the Tuhelj spa in 2003.

– The investment in Tuhelj is financed 50 percent by funds from HBOR, and the planned completion is at the beginning of 2012 – said the director of Terme Olimia, Zdravko Počivalšek, at the presentation of plans for the next year on Friday at Terme Olimia.

Such investments will certainly benefit Croatian continental tourism. For comparison, Terme Olimia achieved 15 million euros in revenue in the first nine months of this year, while Terme Tuhelj achieved 4.2 million euros. Over time and with investments like this, much can be expected from Tuhelj. (T. B.)
