A ceremonial promotion of the monograph ‘Iločki Traminac – Prince from Principovac’ dedicated to Traminac, a wine from the Ilok region that has a long tradition of producing this variety, was held in the Preporodna Hall in Zagreb.
Principovac is the name of the estate owned by Iločki Podrumi, but it also denotes a top-quality vineyard location. The monograph presents a chronological overview of the history of viticulture and winemaking in Ilok, providing a wealth of information about the wine and its cultivation, factors affecting its quality, and presenting a historical and geographical map, showcasing Ilok Traminac as a wine recognized for two hundred years. The abundance of visual material will certainly enhance the reader’s experience and illustrate today’s viticulture in the area, while also bringing a touch of the past, said Đuro Horvat, director of Agrokor Vina, in his opening remarks.
– The monograph ‘Iločki Traminac – Prince from Principovac’ is a significant step forward in promoting domestic production and local wines. In the context of globalization and increasing competition in the wine sector, it is important to highlight all our specificities and what makes Croatian wines recognizable, starting from the areas of grape cultivation to the final product – wine. Iločki Traminac deserves such a work, it deserves to be written about in this way and to be presented. Soon, Croatia will be a member of the EU. There, we must preserve our specificities, what we can present and be proud of. I am confident that Traminac will be even more recognizable then, concluded Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development Petar Čobanković.
