Along with candles, the most sought-after product for All Saints’ Day is floral bouquets. Despite favorable climatic conditions and quality soil, Croatia imports almost 90 percent of flowers.
Annually, around 50 million dollars is spent on this. Most domestic producers who grow flowers in greenhouses warn of a tough battle with imported flowers, the production of which is subsidized by some countries. Although we have significantly more sunny days than some countries from which we import flowers, our production is more than modest, just as flower exports are only slightly above one and a half million dollars per year.
