The retail chain dm-drogerie markt Croatia achieved revenue exceeding 1.8 billion kuna in the business year 2009/2010, which ends for the company at the end of September. This represents an increase of 2.8 percent compared to the previous year.
This is significantly lower growth compared to what dm has been accustomed to in previous years, as it ended the previous year with a growth of 15.4 percent. However, these figures were expected given the unfavorable situation in the retail market and the fact that the sales price index at dm has decreased by 1.77 percent in the past year. As with other chains, the recession has also prompted an increase in the sales of private label products at dm. Sales of these products increased by 11.9 percent. An interesting fact is that nine out of the ten best-selling products come from this category.
At a press conference where the business data of dm was presented, it was stated that the chain invested around 64 million kuna in the past business year, in the opening of a new distribution center and 11 new stores, and that according to research by Ipsos Puls, dm is the first choice for purchasing cosmetics and healthy food with 100 percent recognition among respondents. As one of the most important indicators of business for the past year, Mirko Markužić, the director of dm, highlighted the increase in the number of customers.
– People are the key factor in dm’s business, whether it is a customer, employee, or partner. With this business philosophy, we have ensured growth in all relevant indicators this year, particularly highlighting the increase in the number of customers. Every day, we have an average of almost 10,000 more customers than last year – said Mrakužić, adding that an average of 69,900 satisfied customers shop at dm daily (A. K.)
