A collection of twenty luxury watches from the Parisian jewelry and watchmaking company Cartier, valued at one million euros, was presented to the people of Zagreb on October 20 at the Krona Exclusive shop in the Cascade center.
The attention was drawn to the most expensive piece worth 380,000 euros, the men’s Tortue watch, which has an 18-carat gold case, 33 jewels, and a sapphire background, marking its world premiere. The watches could only be viewed through the glass of the display case in which they were exhibited. Maria Novak, the organizer of the Cartier watch exhibition, stated that they are not for sale. She also denied the news that appeared in the press before the exhibition that the most expensive Cartier women’s watch, Captive, valued at 250,000 euros, was purchased by a Croatian. That watch was not even in the collection as it had already been sold, but not in Croatia. However, a less extravagant version of that watch, without the jewel-encrusted bracelet, is available to interested female clients, priced at ‘only’ 30,000 euros. Among the visitors to the exhibition were those who can afford such watches and others, more interesting to the yellow press. The program was hosted by Ivana Šundov, guests were greeted by Martin Schmit, one of Cartier’s directors, and the surprise of the evening was the appearance of actress Bojana Gregorić, who emerged from a red-gold Cartier box.
