Postponed trial of Šestak, Marinc, and Šket

At the Municipal Court in Koprivnica, due to the illness of the judge, the first hearing in the court proceedings in which the DORH charges former leaders of Podravka, Zdravko Šestak and Darko Marinc, as well as Darko Šket, the former head of the company Sloga, has been postponed. This concerns a loan of five million kuna that Podravka provided to the Koprivnica footwear company in 2007.

Šestak and Marinc are accused of failing to act with the care of a good businessman in May and June 2007, and of approving a payment of five million kuna to Sloga in the name of the loan, thereby causing damage to Podravka without regard for its property interests. Šestak and Šket are accused of having, in early April 2009, knowing that Sloga was on the verge of bankruptcy, entered into an agreement to secure the repayment of the five million kuna loan by establishing a lien on Sloga’s real estate. This diminished the value of the bankruptcy estate. The trial will continue in December. (www.hrt.hr)
