On Friday, the final hearing was held at the County Court in Zagreb, and I was sentenced in the ‘validation case’. During the proceedings, although the president of the court panel, Turudić, requested that I shorten my defense presentation, I felt the need to thoroughly explain the entire issue related to this case due to the fact that my only allies are the public, namely ordinary citizens. This is part of the content of a letter that Damir Polančec notarized, which arrived at Lider’s email address on Friday evening. Among other things, he heavily accuses Vladimir Šeks, with whom, Polančec claims, he met a month ago. Šeks then told him that everything could be fine if the defense was presented in a way that he acted on orders and in direct coordination with Sanader, and that he was instructed to pay lawyer Miletić through the preparation of a study. Polančec was supposed to mention Sanader’s defense as many times as possible.
In response, Polančec told him that he acted on the orders of the former prime minister, but not in the interest of the government. – Sanader is air to me! So, as if he does not exist… Regardless of the fact that I no longer have positive emotions towards him, I am not ready to lie and evade responsibility, placing something on him that is not true. I will defend myself exclusively with the truth, said Polančec. Šeks then replied that the verdict had already been made, and that he should think about everything because it is an unconditional sentence. – I asked him if that meant a year of unconditional imprisonment, to which we both fell silent – I in shock, and he staring at me and confirming with a nod that seemed to last at least a minute. So, that is how I was convicted in the validation case, concludes Polančec in his letter.
