The President of the Croatian Parliament, Luka Bebić, has received a written request from Ivo Sanader for the activation of his parliamentary mandate in the Croatian Parliament dated October 13, 2010, it was announced by the Croatian Parliament.
The request has been forwarded to the Mandate and Immunity Commission, according to the announcement. The motives for Sanader’s return to the parliamentary benches are currently unknown. It is worth noting that Sanader’s close friend and former party colleague, Mladen Barišić, who is suspected in the Fimi Media case, submitted a request for the activation of his parliamentary mandate last week, but he will immediately place it in a state of inactivity. After the expiration of that period, Barišić can freely dispose of his mandate and activate it at any time until the end of this parliamentary term. While inactive, Barišić does not have parliamentary immunity, so he remains in investigative custody, but this move potentially opens up space for parliamentary retirement. (www.hrt.hr)
