The Croatian delegation, which will include representatives from the Ministry of Finance and the Croatian National Bank, will participate in the Annual Assembly of the World Bank (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) taking place in Washington from October 8 to 10, the Ministry of Finance reported today.
The delegation from Croatia is led by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia and Minister of Finance Ivan Šuker, while the delegation from the Croatian National Bank is headed by Governor Željko Rohatinski. As emphasized by the Ministry of Finance, during the Annual Assembly, the Croatian delegation will hold a series of meetings at the World Bank and the IMF. Thus, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ivan Šuker will meet, among others, with the Vice President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia Philippe Le Houerou, the Director for Croatia Peter Harrold, and Executive Director Rudolf Jan Treffers.
“Key topics of the meetings with representatives of the World Bank will include the status of existing projects, further activities in the preparation and approval of new projects, the support that the Bank provides for further economic development in Croatia, and financing activities aimed at bringing the Republic of Croatia closer to EU membership,” the statement notes. The delegations from the Ministry of Finance and the Croatian National Bank will hold meetings with representatives of the IMF, including Executive Director at the IMF Age F. P. Bakker and the head of the IMF mission for Croatia Zuzana Murgasova. Discussions will focus on the current macroeconomic situation in Croatia and the measures being implemented to overcome the impact of the global economic crisis, the Ministry of Finance emphasizes. They also note that during their stay in Washington, several bilateral meetings will be organized, such as a meeting at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. (H)
