Trading in shares on the ZSE down 38 percent

Trading on the Zagreb Stock Exchange during the third quarter of this year amounted to 2.7 billion kuna, which is 11.6 percent less than in the previous quarter, with regular trading in shares amounting to 874.5 million kuna or 38.1 percent less than in the second quarter of this year.

The value of stock indices increased compared to the end of the second quarter of this year, with the value of Crobex rising by 3.3 percent and Crobex10 by 2.0 percent, so the indices at the end of September were above their psychological thresholds – Crobex finished at 1,915.58 points, and Crobex10 at 1,011.23 points. Of the total trading on the exchange in the third quarter of 2.7 billion kuna, the majority, 1.4 billion kuna, was achieved through institutional trading, 874.5 million kuna was regular trading in shares, while regular trading in bonds amounted to 124.8 million kuna, and reported trading was 296.5 million kuna.

Trading indicators for the third quarter of 2010 seemingly do not inspire optimism, but comparing them with the same period last year, it is evident that total trading has increased by 23 percent, although this increase can mainly be attributed to more intense off-exchange trading, emphasize analysts from the Zagreb Stock Exchange in their commentary on trading indicators for the period July-September of this year.

Analysts from the Zagreb Stock Exchange highlight significant events in the third quarter of this year related to Atlantic Group – the acquisition of Slovenian Droga Kolinska, the increase of share capital through the issuance of new shares, the signing of a distribution agreement with Austrian Rauch, and the acquisition of the company Kalničke vode Bio Natura. Among other important events on the Exchange, they mention the listing of AD Plastika shares on the Official Market, making this share the 19th in the quotation that follows the highest standards of reporting and transparency. The most liquid share in the third quarter of this year was the HT share with just over 234 million kuna in trading. In September, the price of the HT share ended at 273 kuna, which is 4.7 percent higher than at the end of June. The Dalekovod share was traded for 62.9 million kuna during the June-September period, and its price at the end of September was 5 percent lower than at the end of June.

Trading in preferred shares of Adris Group amounted to 58.2 million kuna, and their price increased by 7.8 percent, while an even more significant price increase of 16.3 percent was recorded for Atlantic Group shares, which were traded for 46.1 million kuna. The Atlantska plovidba share also had over 40 million kuna in trading during the July-September period, with a trading volume of 41.1 million kuna, and its price fell by 1.8 percent. More than 30 million kuna in trading in the third quarter of this year was recorded for shares of Končar – Elektroindustrija (36.8 million), Ina (32.5 million), and SN Holding (31.8 million kuna), with the Ina share recording a slight price drop of 0.2 percent, while the price of the Končar share increased by 6.7 percent, and the SN Holding share had a price 18.2 percent higher at the end of September than at the end of June. Among the ten most liquid shares in the third quarter were the shares of Ericsson Nikola Tesla with 29.5 million kuna in trading and the shares of Ingra with 22.6 million kuna, both of which recorded a price drop compared to the end of the second quarter, with the Ericsson Nikola Tesla share dropping by 3.1 percent and the Ingra share dropping by 16.5 percent.
