IDC, an independent analytical firm, has declared SAP the leading company in the business intelligence market, particularly in the area of software licenses and maintenance revenue.
IDC has also announced that SAP has grown faster than the market for financial business applications and strategic management for the fourth consecutive year. Two IDC analyses titled “Worldwide Business Intelligence Tools 2009 Vendor Shares1” and “Worldwide Financial Performance and Strategy Management Applications 2007-2009 Vendor Shares2” show that SAP is a leader in BI solutions with revenue of $1,557.1 million, accounting for a total market share of 19.5%, while revenue from FPSM applications exceeded $535 million, yielding a market share of 23.7%. BI and FPSM solutions are part of the overall business in the analytics market, which also includes customer relationship management (CRM), supply chain management, human resources, and business analytics services.
– “Despite the decline in overall IT spending, we still see potential and growth for sales in both the BI and FPSM markets,” stated Dan Vesset, Vice President, Business Analytics Solutions, IDC. SAP is well-positioned to offer BI and FPSM solutions, as well as broader business analytics that companies of all sizes require. BI solutions from the SAP BusinessObjects portfolio remain market leaders from 2009, maintaining nearly 20% market share. IDC reports that the BI solutions market continued to grow in 2009 despite the overall negative market growth. In the past year, SAP launched the SAP BusinessObject Explorer software, which allows navigation through any type of data, whether used from SAP systems or outside of them, very quickly and intuitively. IDC also announced that the SAP BusinessObject BI OnDemand solution provides BI users with a complete set of easy-to-use business intelligence tools with a pricing model that scales according to their business needs.
