The entire Croatia from today no longer receives the national television program via analog but through digital signal. On this occasion, a ceremonial event was held in the building of the Croatian Postal Bank in Jurišićeva Street, Zagreb.
It was in this building that experimental broadcasting of Television Zagreb began in November 1956. Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor symbolically turned off the last analog transmitter. She thanked everyone who has worked in recent years on the transition from analog to digital broadcasting of television programs. She is particularly pleased that Croatia has transitioned to this type of television signal broadcasting two years ahead of schedule, thus joining the group of 14 European countries that have fully switched to digital broadcasting. Above all technological advancements, the greatest value of digitization is the creation of conditions for increasing both the scope and quality of television content, stated State Secretary Igor Lučić. The digitization process in Croatia, which is divided into nine regions, began in region D5 on January 26, 2010. Thanks to it, two national channels and an electronic program guide have been introduced so far, and by the end of next year, all televisions should start broadcasting signals in 16:9 format.
