If the customs officers’ strike in Slovenia continues, Croatian road carriers will lose a significant part of their revenue this month, said the president of the Association of Croatian Road Carriers, Marijan Banelli, commenting on the strike of public officials in Slovenia.
He notes that for some, the loss will be 25 percent of revenue, and for others even more. Slovenian road carriers have also warned of the losses they will feel due to the strike. Due to the waiting of freight vehicles at the border caused by the strike of customs officers and police, Slovenian road carriers are losing two million euros daily, said the president of the Association of Slovenian Carriers, Andrej Klobasa, in an interview with the commercial television station POP-TV on Monday. One day of delays at the border means two million euros in costs due to lost hours, and even greater will be the penalties for untimely delivered goods, he said. The strike of Slovenian public officials, which began on Monday, involves about 80,000 employees, including the customs service.
