Among the new macroeconomic indicators, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics announced today that in August, the total number of employed persons in Croatia decreased by approximately 3,250 individuals, or 0.2 percent, to 1.44 million.
This decline is somewhat larger than expected. Five macroeconomists who participated in a survey conducted by Hina had, on average, anticipated that the number of employed persons in August would decrease by 1,600 individuals. This marks the end of the trend of monthly employment growth that had been ongoing since April. This was expected, given that the impact of seasonal employment following the peak of the tourist season is becoming increasingly weaker. According to previously published data from the Croatian Employment Service, the number of unemployed persons increased in August by 538 individuals, or 0.2 percent compared to July, totaling 283,330 individuals. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 16.4 percent. (H)
