From today, traffic jams towards Slovenia

Due to the announced strike of Slovenian customs officers on Monday, September 27, we received information from the Ministry of the Interior that the border will not be closed, but difficult traffic is expected at border crossings.

Given the expected crowds and waiting times for domestic and foreign travelers as well as freight carriers, alternative routes will be suggested. – It is evident that in such situations, crowds, delays, and long waits cannot be avoided, and therefore there is no alternative for facilitated communication across the state border – they told Lider at the Ministry of the Interior.
A strike of 80 thousand employees is expected, but although according to Slovenian law, uniformed public officials must perform their duties even during a strike, practice has already shown that customs officers and police at border crossings have been performing their tasks at a ‘slowed’ pace. How long the strike will last is still unknown, but the announcement from the president of the strike committee, Dušan Miščević, does not sound optimistic, as he stated that the union members are ready to carry out the strike indefinitely and will not allow the government to outmaneuver them.
