Republika Srpska plans to join the project for the construction of the ‘South Stream’ gas pipeline, through which Russian gas would be delivered to Europe via the Black Sea, and to receive about one billion cubic meters of gas annually, stated RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik on Thursday in Moscow, as reported by Russian media.
Republika Srpska plans to build a 480-kilometer section of the gas pipeline in northern Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a capacity of up to 1.5 billion cubic meters per year, and connect it to the ‘South Stream’ in Serbia. The Russian gas giant Gazprom will conduct a feasibility study for this project and will then inform the RS government of its decision, as stated in the memorandum of cooperation signed by Dodik and Russian Energy Minister Sergey Shmatko. ‘I think we need two months to clarify all the details,’ said Dodik. Shmatko and Dodik signed a joint statement on Thursday regarding cooperation on the construction of the ‘South Stream’ gas pipeline. (H)
