From what the minister said, it can be concluded that due to unbound sheets, no signature is valid; however, in that case, the question arises as to why, after it was immediately revealed that the signatures were collected illegally, a million budget kuna was spent during the 40-day verification period. Regarding the published names of the signatories on the government websites, Mlakar still believes that they did not violate the Personal Data Protection Act and that they protected the identity of each individual by blacking out part of the citizen’s identification number. It is illogical then, if everything is according to the law and in order, that the government on its websites blurred all names and surnames of the signatories published in the report of the Ministry of Administration after media reports. Journalists have repeatedly tried to find out from Mlakar how many valid signatures were collected, but he responded to each such inquiry by quoting the law, avoiding mentioning a specific number. When asked if he would resign if the Parliament decides to call a referendum despite the report from his ministry, Mlakar stated that many would like to see him and all other government members removed, but that he only performed the job requested by the Parliament from the government.
