Petrokemija’s loss in the first six months of this year amounts to 47 million kuna, a result of low sales revenue, i.e., the inability to cover the total fixed costs under the conditions of sales volume achievement and low selling prices, according to a statement from the company.
In the first half of the year, Petrokemija increased production by 28.1 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 537,000 tons, reduced personnel costs by 21.8 percent, as well as most other costs, except for materials, raw materials, and energy, but this could not compensate for the decline in business revenue of 15.7 percent and prevent the reporting of a loss, the statement notes. The President of the Management Board of Petrokemija, Josip Jagušt, emphasized at yesterday’s meeting of the company’s Supervisory Board that they are encouraged by news from the world indicating a gradual recovery of the real sector and the agricultural products market, which has led to an increase in sales of mineral fertilizers in July and August.
