The Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Jadranka Kosor, met today at the Banski Dvori with the CEO of UniCredit Group, Alessandro Profumo, as announced by the Government.
During the meeting, satisfaction was expressed regarding the overall bilateral relations between the Republic of Croatia and the Italian Republic. Welcoming him, Prime Minister Kosor informed CEO Profumo about activities related to economic recovery in Croatia. She stated that a decision has been made that the expenditure side of the state budget for 2011 and 2012 will not increase compared to the level of expenditure established by the rebalancing of this year’s budget. She also emphasized that, alongside the budget for 2011, a Law on Fiscal Responsibility will be adopted for the first time in Croatia.
The main topic of discussion was the initiation of new investments in Croatia. In this context, both Prime Minister Kosor and CEO Alessandro Profumo expressed the same opinion that investments are key to strengthening the economy. Profumo added that Italian banks in Croatia are achieving significant success, and he pointed out that the success of banks will be as strong as Croatia itself. Prime Minister Kosor also spoke about the conclusion of the negotiation process for Croatia’s entry into the European Union. Our goal remains the technical completion of negotiations by the end of 2010 so that we can sign the Accession Agreement to the European Union in the spring of next year. All reforms that Croatia is undertaking will enable faster achievement of European Union standards and adaptation of Croatia to market conditions in the European Union, concluded Prime Minister Kosor.
