Saints Hills Dingač 2008 is the first wine of the Plavac Mali variety from the Dingač site to be included in the program of one of the leading global wine exhibitions, the 19th International Wine Festival in the Italian city of Merano, it was announced today.
The exhibition will take place from November 5 to 8, 2010. Inclusion in the festival program is exclusive and limited to wines that achieve a minimum of 86 out of a possible 100 points based on expert tastings. Saints Hills Dingač 2008 was included in the program with a score of 89 points. The Saints Hills winery, along with the Pelješac winery Bura/Mrgudić, is the only one from Croatia confirmed to have met this threshold and will present at the festival, which this year will gather more than 500 winemakers from around the world, and according to estimates, more than five thousand visitors. In addition to Dingač, the Saints Hills winery will also present Nevina 2009, a blend of Istrian Malvasia and Chardonnay.
The festival in Merano is a central gathering place for winemakers, hoteliers, chefs, gastro experts, and food enthusiasts, providing them with the opportunity to taste selected products, exchange information, and establish contacts. Therefore, the participation of the Saints Hills winery is an opportunity for promotion, both for these producers individually and for Croatia as a country of indigenous varieties and specific territory. ‘Being included in the Merano program is akin to being included in, for example, the program of the world’s largest theater or music institution,’ assessed the owner of Saints Hills winery, Ernest Tolj, adding that this is a great recognition for one of the youngest Croatian wineries, as the wines included in the program are just now making their first commercial appearance in the Croatian market.
