Less than a third of Croatian citizens support the Družba Adria project, according to a survey conducted by Gfk agency in July on a sample of one thousand respondents. When asked whether they support Družba Adria, specifically the transport of Russian oil via Omišalj, nine percent of citizens responded that they fully support it, while 21 percent said they support it.
Thirty percent are uncertain, meaning they neither support nor oppose the project, and 33 percent stated that they do not support it. The level of support is lowest in Istria with Primorje (26 percent) and Dalmatia (22 percent). The highest percentage of disinterested individuals is in northern Croatia (38 percent), while the most opposition to the project is found in Dalmatia (40 percent). The survey showed that 73 percent of citizens are aware of Družba Adria, while 27 percent are not familiar with the project. Good knowledge of the project (an average of 35 percent) is far highest in Istria with Primorje and Dalmatia, higher among men than women, and among citizens aged between 35 and 64, as well as those with higher education. Sixty-eight percent of citizens believe that the decision regarding the transport of oil via Omišalj, or the Družba Adria project, should be made through a referendum, 20 percent are against it, and 12 percent do not know if a referendum should be held. The highest number of referendum supporters is in Dalmatia – 81 percent, according to the results of the Gfk survey. (H)
