The new head of the World Bank Office for Croatia, Hongjoo J. Hahm, is visiting Croatia, marking his first visit before officially taking office on October 1 of this year, as announced today by the World Bank Office in Croatia.
"The purpose of this visit is to better familiarize himself with the country, which will be aided by meetings with government officials, public opinion makers, members of the business community, and other interest groups, as well as to see the effects and benefits of the projects financed by the World Bank in the Republic of Croatia," the statement said. It is noted that Hahm will be joined during his visit by Andras Horvai, the former head of the World Bank Office for Croatia.
The main task of the World Bank at a global level is to assist countries in combating poverty and to provide advice on policy-making that supports long-term and sustainable economic growth while protecting the poor and vulnerable groups in society. In Croatia, as stated, the World Bank’s support is focused on better preparation for EU membership, with a growing and competitive economy, while also improving the quality of life for all its citizens and protecting those who are most vulnerable.
