The joint railway company of Serbia, Croatia, and Slovenia will commence operations on September 9th, announced Serbian Minister of Infrastructure Milutin Mrkonjić.
He added that a meeting will be held in Belgrade on September 8th, and the company will start operations on September 9th, Tanjug reports. He also stated that, without any investments in infrastructure, the transport of goods from Ljubljana to Istanbul will be reduced from the current 65 hours to 40 to 45 hours. General Director of Serbian Railways Milovan Marković stated that through the joint venture, the railways of Serbia, Croatia, and Slovenia will achieve higher revenues.
This is a great opportunity to increase our operational volume, shorten transport time, and offer a higher quality service to our clients, explained Marković. He also mentioned that Serbian Railways expect to receive a proposal for the founding act of the joint venture from Slovenia in the coming days, at which point it will be known how the revenue will be shared.
