Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor sharply commented on yesterday’s arrest of Wolfgang Kulterer, the former CEO of Hypo Bank, who is charged with alleged irregularities in the operations of that bank in Croatia.
Given the long-standing series of information and half-information about malversations, she emphasized that special attention will be paid to this matter. It is very important for us that this, I would say, festering sore, is finally resolved and that we see what it is all about. I am sure that the State Attorney’s Office and other Croatian institutions will certainly be involved in this. I believe that this time we will relatively quickly get answers. As for the Government, we are eagerly awaiting those answers, said Kosor. Kosor also spoke about the budget rebalancing. Since the agreement with the unions regarding the non-payment of bonuses, Christmas bonuses, and children’s gifts has failed, the Government will, as she said, be forced to save money on pensions, unemployment benefits, and compensation to farmers for recent flood damage. Despite this, she claims that the rebalancing will take into account the most socially vulnerable segments of the population. (www.hrt.hr)
