The average net salary of employees in legal entities in Zagreb for May this year, excluding the crisis tax, amounted to 6,254 kuna, while the crisis tax reduced it by 195 kuna or 3.1 percent, resulting in a total of 6,059 kuna, according to data from the Department of Statistics of the City Office for Strategic Planning and Development.
The average net salary in Zagreb (excluding the crisis tax) of 6,254 kuna was 190 kuna or 3.1 percent higher than in April, while on an annual basis, compared to May of last year, it was nominally higher by 0.2 percent or 13 kuna. The average monthly net salary of employees in companies and institutions in the City of Zagreb for the first five months of this year was 6,184 kuna, which is nominally 0.9 percent lower compared to the same period last year.
By individual sectors, the highest average net salary for May (without the crisis tax reduction) was in management activities, consulting related to management, amounting to 13,284 kuna. Following with 10,776 kuna are financial services, excluding insurance and pension funds, and advertising and market research with 10,514 kuna, and then the production of computers, electronic and optical products with 9,862 kuna. The lowest average net salaries in Zagreb for May were paid in the clothing manufacturing sector, amounting to 3,055 kuna, in services related to the management and maintenance of buildings, landscaping and maintenance of landscapes 3,278 kuna, wood processing and wood products 3,363 kuna, etc.
The crisis tax reduced the average Zagreb net salary for May by 3.1 percent, resulting in 6,059 kuna, and statistics by sectors show that this reduction ranged from 1.8 percent to 4 percent. Thus, the average Zagreb net salary for May in administrative and support service activities was reduced by the crisis tax by 1.8 percent, from 3,722 to 3,653 kuna, while in financial and insurance activities, the reduction was 4 percent, from 9,532 to 9,150 kuna.
