Slovenian household appliance manufacturer Gorenje announced on Wednesday that it has signed an agreement to acquire one hundred percent of the shares of the Swedish company Asko Appliances Group.
The Swedish manufacturer of large household appliances, with factories in Sweden and Finland, was previously owned by the Italian group Antonio Merloni Group, and the acquisition price is not known. Details of the agreement, which was signed on Tuesday, will be published in mid-next month, Gorenje announced in a press release. The acquisition will not affect employees and Gorenje’s production in Slovenia, as Asko’s production complements Gorenje’s product range, the company from Velenje explained, noting that Asko’s program of washing and drying machines, dishwashers, and ironing machines is different from the product lines manufactured in Velenje. They also emphasize that the acquisition of the Swedish company will have positive synergy effects, given that Gorenje has so far had a limited presence in the markets of Scandinavian countries, as well as North America and Australia, where Asko is more represented.
