The pharmaceutical company Stada, the third largest generic company in Germany, is entering the Croatian market. Specifically, through the company Hemofarm from Serbia, which Stada acquired earlier, the German company has registered medicines in Croatia for the first time this year.
For the medicines Milenol and Cordel, Stada received approval from the Agency for Medicinal Products in January and June of this year, respectively. When these medicines will be available on the market is uncertain as the German company has not yet requested quality testing from the Agency, which is necessary before the medicines can be marketed. It is certain that the competition in the Croatian pharmaceutical market is increasing – in 2000, there were 78 registered manufacturers, and last year there were as many as 176 manufacturers of medicines.
