Zagreb Holding urgently needs to take out a loan or it will not have money for ongoing operations, specifically for the payment of salaries for more than 12,000 employees, writes novilist.hr
That the situation is alarming, and that the Holding’s cash register is empty, is confirmed by a meeting at the end of last week, when Ivo Čović halted all payments to creditors for the next ten days, as he feverishly collects money for June salaries and the repayment of numerous loans. – In most subsidiaries of the Holding, salaries have been credited to accounts by the second day of the month for years, but this month they will be delayed by about a week. A short-term loan will likely need to be taken out for them – warns a high-ranking source from the Holding, as reported by novilist.hr. The importance of the Holding for the regular functioning of the metropolis could be demonstrated precisely in the delay of salaries, as the regularity of payments has never been in question until now. It is therefore not excluded that ZET employees, with the onset of autumn, may go on strike if salary delays become the rule rather than the exception, and stop public transport as a warning.
