The first three-year program in Ayurvedic medicine in Croatia will be launched in Zagreb. In the first two years, students will study and practice in Croatia, with the option to go to London if they wish, writes novilist.hr
However, what will be mandatory is a two-year stay in India, at an Ayurvedic hospital, during the third year of study. Although this program is difficult to call by that name as it has not received approval from the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports (‘We did not even apply for it because we know how slow and skeptical our institutions are regarding such topics,’ says Tomislav Petrušić, one of the conceptual founders of the program), the classes that will last three years and be held in collaboration with Middlesex University in London, along with the diplomas that will be awarded by that British university, suggest that Ayurvedic medicine is becoming increasingly interesting in Croatia.
‘Ayurveda is the oldest, most complex, and most effective natural medical science. It is based on Vedic philosophy and translates to – the science of life,’ states a promotional leaflet advertising the program, as well as the Somalata center, where Ayurvedic medicine is practiced and which is directed by Tomislav Petrušić himself.
– With this diploma, graduates will be able to work in the European Union, precisely thanks to the collaboration with the London Ayurvedic program at Middlesex University, says Petrušić, who is also a doctor of Ayurvedic medicine. Nothing will be able to be entered into the work book in Croatia, but – adds Petrušić – ‘when we enter the European Union, work books will no longer exist anyway.’ (www.novilist.hr)
