On July 1st, after a year of unsuccessful police experimentation, stickers confirming the validity of vehicle technical inspections are returning to the interior of vehicles, writes novilist.hr.
Displaying them on the outside of the windshield proved to be an impractical solution this winter, as many stickers did not withstand the bad weather. The police admitted this in April, and by amending the Regulations on Technical Inspections of Vehicles, quietly returned the stickers to the vehicle, but those who drive without an external sticker until the first day of July will still be fined 300 kuna. In exactly one year of applying the provision, the police ‘processed’ a total of 671 drivers, of which 181 were merely warned. This means that 490 fines for not possessing a sticker were issued, and another 181 warnings were given for damaged stickers. This means that drivers were charged 147,000 kuna for the unsuccessful experiment. Drivers who paid fines during this year will not have their money refunded. (www.novilist.hr)
