Prof. Dr. Danica Purg, director and dean of IEDC – Bled School of Management, has received international recognition as ‘Dean of the Year’ for her exceptional achievements in international business education, which will be awarded to her by the Academy of International Business (AIB).
She will receive the award at AIB’s annual meeting titled ‘International Management in Difficult Times’ from June 25 to 29, 2010, in Rio de Janeiro. As the third European recipient of the ‘Dean of the Year’ award, she joins an elite list of deans from the world’s top international business schools who have received this recognition over the past sixteen years.
Among the main reasons for awarding the prestigious title ‘Dean of the Year 2010’ to Prof. Dr. Danica Purg, AIB states the following in its explanation: pioneering work in laying the foundations of business education in Slovenia, exceptional contributions to business education through the establishment and expansion of the Central and Eastern European Management Development Association (CEEMAN), continuous encouragement of others, in which Prof. Dr. Danica Purg serves as an outstanding example for deans, professors, and managers in the region and beyond, authorship of many innovations in the design and implementation of business education, and significant contributions to the understanding of the important role of business education in civil society. For the latter, she was also honored by the Slovenian president, who awarded her the Order of Freedom of the Republic of Slovenia in 2001.
– I am honored to be selected for the award given by the prestigious Academy of International Business, especially since this distinguished recognition has only been awarded to two European deans, from INSEAD and Copenhagen Business School – said Prof. Dr. Danica Purg.
