INA announced today that INA and MOL have discovered significant quantities of gas in the Podravska Slatina-Zalata area.
-The joint project for the exploration of the Croatian and Hungarian border area resulted in the discovery of the gas-condensate potential of the Zalata-Dravica field on the Croatian side of the Podravska Slatina-Zalata contractual area, it was announced by INA. The joint project to explore the border area between Croatia and Hungary in the Drava basin was initiated in 2006 with the signing of a contract in the Hungarian city of Zalaegerszeg, and INA and MOL, as equal partners in this project, participate in financing the exploration and sharing production with a 50 percent stake for both partners. INA reminds that in 2007, the discovery of the gas-condensate field followed when significant quantities of gas were tested with the first exploration well Zalata-1, on the Hungarian side of the border.
At the end of 2008, the exploration well Dravica-1 was drilled on the Croatian side of the contractual area, and in April of this year, testing of the well commenced. Testing at a depth of 3,170 meters showed a gas inflow of 370 thousand cubic meters per day with a smaller quantity of condensate. The testing confirmed that these are commercial quantities of gas on the Croatian side of the exploration site. A more precise evaluation of the new find will follow after the interpretation of data obtained from 3D seismic and the preparation of a reservoir study. In the upcoming period, both partners’ efforts will be directed towards the development of the discovered field with the aim of bringing it into production and connecting it to the gas infrastructure system, as stated in INA’s announcement.
