Despite speculation about the merger of Međimurje Bank with Privredna banka Zagreb, PBZ emphasizes that this is still not an option. Although PBZ has already done this with Krapina-Zagorje Bank in 2000, Riadria Bank in 2003, and PB Laguna Bank in 2004, the possibility of a merger does not exist because Međimurje Bank is performing well.
According to revised data for 2009, out of 32 banks, Međimurje ranked eighth in terms of profit achieved with 59.6 million kuna. Since eight banks among the top 10 ranked by profit are classified as large banks, PBZ emphasizes that Međimurje Bank has confirmed its position as the most profitable small regional bank, which is why it will continue to maintain its brand.
