Last weekend, specifically on June 14th, a unique event – Day D – was held at the Old Slaughterhouse in Zagreb’s Heinzelova Street. This event, organized by the Croatian Designers Society and Pepermint Agency, brought together local product and graphic designers for lectures, screenings, and, of course, an evening party.
More precisely, during the 24 hours, participants had the opportunity to take part in a design fair aimed at students from across the region, and based on the votes of the fair visitors, the Audience Awards were given to the group Sintoment, Ivan Dilberović, Tanja Prlenda, and Maja Matas. In a part of the program called My Five Minutes, short five-minute presentations by designers were alternated, while the exhibition ReAktor 01 showcased prototypes from a recently established collective of younger generation designers. Koraljka Vlajo spoke about their position in the market and industrial design in general during her lecture, while one of the organizers of the Young Serbian Designers group, Srđan Mladinić, discussed Serbian experiences. Additionally, at Day D, participants could listen to a lecture by Agata Jaworski, a member of the world-renowned Dutch conceptual design brand Droog. This group has indeed placed the Netherlands at the forefront of global design. The evening hours of this design holiday were reserved for good fun with DJs, among whom Davor Bruketa stood out, marking his first time behind the mixing desk. Judging by the attendance, Day D proved to be a brilliant idea for promoting design activities, especially the works of the younger generation. (S. B.)
