The Italians have introduced new fines by law for negligent drivers who use their phones while driving. If a driver is caught by the Italian police using their phone or texting during driving, they face a fine of 155 euros, writes index.hr.
With the new law, Italy has taken the lead in Europe for the highest fines for phone use while driving. Following Italy, Slovenia, the Netherlands, and Portugal are next in line for fines, where the penalty is around 100 euros. In Germany, the fine for using a mobile phone while driving is 40 euros, and drivers also receive penalty points.
