Croatian Post (HP) achieved an operating profit of 33.6 million kuna in the first four months of this year, as announced by HP. This continues the period of positive business for Croatian Post, which ended the year 2009 with an operating profit of 167 million kuna after years of negative performance.
The management attributes this to the restructuring that modernized operations in line with the best global trends, resulting in a nine percent increase in revenue during 2009, while costs were reduced by five percent. During the restructuring, 20 county postal centers were abolished, and a new divisional organization was established based on modern postal operators. The new organization and the abolition of county centers reduced the need for administration, and two thousand employees in administration were transferred to operational jobs, the statement said. It adds that the company is fully liquid and meets its financial obligations within the agreed deadlines. (H)
