Under the influence of continued declines in stock prices on global markets, prices sharply fell today on the Zagreb Stock Exchange, and the Crobex index plummeted to its lowest level since December 21 of last year.
At 12:00 PM, the Crobex index was down 1.41 percent, at 1,938 points. This is its lowest level since December 21 of last year, when it was at 1,936 points. The Crobex10 simultaneously weakened by 1.49 percent, to 1,046 points. Regular trading in stocks amounted to 8 million kuna, which is about 6 million more than on Friday at this time. “All liquid issues are recording price declines today, mainly under the influence of negative sentiment spilling over from foreign exchanges. Due to uncertainties related to the debt crisis in the Eurozone, investors are fleeing from riskier assets such as stocks,” say the investment company Erste Securities.
The stock of HT generated nearly three million kuna in turnover by noon, with its price slipping 0.76 percent to 264.03 kuna. The privileged stock of Adrisa also achieved million kuna turnover, while its price weakened by 1.16 percent to 258 kuna. The stock of Čakovečki Mlinovi recorded surprisingly high turnover of over half a million kuna. Its price weakened by more than three percent to 3,200 kuna. Both the construction and shipping sectors are experiencing significant declines in stock prices. Stocks of IGH, Viadukt, Dalekovod, Tehnika, and Ingra are down between 1.3 and 4.4 percent. The prices of stocks of Tankerska Plovidba, Uljanik Plovidba, Atlantska Plovidba, and Jadroplov have dropped between 1.1 and 2.1 percent. On global exchanges, stock prices have continued to fall since Friday. Currently, the major European stock indices are down about half a percent, and U.S. futures indices are also indicating a negative start to trading today on Wall Street. (H)
