In Serbia, the sale of the state package of shares in Telekom Srbija is expected this autumn, with a starting price of one billion euros, writes novilist.hr
Although an international tender will be announced for the sale of 30 percent plus one share, according to Serbian media reports, the deal is reserved for Deutsche Telekom, which already holds 20 percent of the shares in that company through Greek OTE and has the right of first refusal. In the story of the further privatization of Telekom Srbija, ‘details’ are beginning to emerge that could also interest the Croatian public.
Namely, it was recently unofficially heard that people from Zagreb’s T-HT, which is majority-owned by Deutsche Telekom, are preparing to go to Belgrade. What exactly their mission should be and at what high management level they would be working on integrating Telekom Srbija into the Deutsche Telekom group was impossible to ascertain. T-HT referred to Deutsche Telekom (DT), from where the response came that they had no comment, given that the tender for the further privatization of the Serbian telecom operator is expected only in the autumn. It is certainly interesting what will happen when DT’s majority ownership of Telekom Srbija is settled and what the Germans’ strategy will be regarding the regional headquarters of this group. Can Zagreb remain the center considering that the Germans have been there much longer, or will Belgrade take the leading role, keeping in mind the strength of the Serbian market. (www.novilist.hr)
